The King Left Vinyl

May 11, 2010 |  by bill  |  Blog  |  No Comments

This week my buddies The King Left are releasing their first full length on vinyl which I helped work on the layout with the artwork they created. I will post some real photos when the finished product comes in. The record was recorded by Ian Love of Rival Schools and sounds awesome, you can order the vinyl or give some mp3s a test drive over at their website.

Sadly, they are playing their final show at the Mercury Lounge this Friday with Drink Up Buttercup, you can find tickets here.

Giants Stadium Destruction

May 5, 2010 |  by bill  |  Blog  |  No Comments

Walking by Giants Stadium this weekend and it’s pretty gnarly to see the stadium split in half with seats ripped up. You would think they would just have blown the whole thing up in one swoop. I grabbed a few photos of the destruction from a distance.

The Bamboozle 2010

May 3, 2010 |  by bill  |  Blog  |  No Comments

Ventured into the sunlight this weekend to the Bamboozle at the Meadowlands to hang out with hordes of teens covered in paint and magic marker offering free hugs and. One of the first thing you notice there is the sheer volume of clothing companies, there are some with really interesting illustrations and designs but many that are well…not. I am picturing Salvation Army stores in the future to be filled with neon clothes and “Fuck Justin Bieber” t-shirts once these kids get a few years older and realize they will never wear these items again. As far as shirt slogans go Bieber was this year’s Swine Flu.

Against Me! was a (sort of) secret act, listed as Gegen Mich (their name in German) and they were by far the highlight of Saturday despite having a short half hour set. Sunday had a lot more bands that I was looking forward to including Polar Bear Club, Eugene Mirman, Arj Barker, Minus The Bear and Weezer. Weezer’s set was light on jams from Pinkerton but was fun nonetheless. Snapped a couple photos while wandering around including Girl Talk (above), amazing Ke$ha and Taylor Momsen’s (of Gossip Girl) band, The Pretty Reckless. Also a note to the people advertising the Paramore / Teegan and Sara show via airplane banner, it’s Tegan.

Check out the photos after the jump.

More Like Ass Kick

April 28, 2010 |  by bill  |  Blog  |  No Comments

Last night a few of us finally caught Kick Ass. I was not familiar with the comic book and when I first saw the trailers I was honestly not that interested, but positive reviews from my friends made me intrigued. The movie did not disappoint as it was both funny and brutally violent especially via the younger sister from 500 Days of Summer whose killing spree was on par with Uma Thurman in Kill Bill. Plus Nicolas Cage had his first good role in years as the psychotic revenge seeking ex-cop whose apartment was wall papered with guns. This almost redeems him for ruining Ghost Rider which unfortunately has a sequel in production, so cancel that redemption. Make sure to catch this one while it’s still in theaters.
